Well, it has been quite some time since I last submitted a deviation to deviantART.com. So, in light of that, I decided I'd do something different.
This artwork really a mix of different ideas. This is purely a Photoshop-created digital artwork. It uses a starscape as the primary background. I added a fractal flame (using the classic, but not dead Frax Flame II in the KPT Effects line of Photoshop plug-ins) and blended it using several different layers. The "cosmic haze" is really a blend of quite a few different stock cloud photos. I also added some lighting using all kinds of blurs and manual paintbrushing. I added very mild 2D stuffs to the forefront using basic shapes and blending modes. Finally, I added the light amount of text on the right-hand side.
This was probably the most tedious task I've ever put on myself.
The idea behind this piece of art was supposed to be a visual reprieval from the every-day world; a trip of the imagination, so to speak. I am very happy with the outcome, to be certain. I hope everyone else enjoys looking at it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
EDIT: I brought out the haze in the background to give a little more body to the surrounding space. I also dimmed the cloud in the background just aside the centerpoint of the Frax Flame. Finally, I changed the opacity of the Frax Flame's surrounding glow so that it's not as obstrusive.
It would make a nice desktop wallpaper, wouldn't it? I wish I had thought about that BEFORE I cropped the image. All of the excess (which would be needed to resize it to standard desktop sizes) is gone. I can't recreate that which is missing.
